Swiffer Pad Cover Knit Pattern

First off let me say, I'm not a pro pattern writer there may be mistakes, if you do find any please let me know.
I've made several of these pads over the years. I love the fact that I save money by not purchasing the disposable ones. I haven't used mine for wet purposes, but as a dry mop to pick up pet hair and those pesky dust bunnies it works great. Best part is too it doesn't take much yarn, I've used scraps less than 2 oz. Ok so here's what you need:

Cotton worsted weight yarn approximately 2-2 1/2 oz ( ex Bernat Cotton, Lily's Sugar'n Cream cotton)
Size 8 knitting needles
2 stitch markers
Measuring tape, tapestry needle, safety pins

PM= Place Marke
SM=Slip Marker
K= Knit
P=Purl
St= Stitches

To get started you will need the measurements of your swiffer mop. Measure the length then add 4 inches to that. Mine was 10" and I added 4 giving me 14 total.
Cast on 22 st.
Row 1: k across
Row 2: p across
Row 3: K3, (PM) *P1, K1* repeat across to last 3 st (PM) K3
Row 4: P3, (SM) * K1, P1* repeat across to marker (SM) P3
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have your total inches knitted ending with a Row 4. You will then repeat Rows 1-2 once and bind off.
Now you will want to fold the ends down 2 1/2 inches on either end and pin. By pinning you can do a dry fit before you sew and adjust if needed. Just don't over stretch the fabric, it will shrink when washed. Then sew up the 4 sides wrong sides together. Flip out the pockets you just formed and slip it on you mop. That's it your done!!!

Now if you've used the cotton yarn, your pad will shrink a little no worries, mine have always been fine and actually fit the mop better after washed.
If you don't want to used cotton, I'm sure you can use scraps of acrylic yarns, although I'm not sure how well they would be on different surfaces. I have only made mine in the cotton. HMMM I guess I need to test it in acrylics next :). But any who, if you do decide yourself to try it, use a worsted weight yarn and just be sure your gauge for the width is 5st to an inch, the height gauge doesn't matter as long as your width is correct. Follow the instructions above making sure to leave 3 sts at the beginning and end of the pattern, you may need to adjust the seed stitch (K1, P1) Also the length, because acrylic doesn't shrink, you may want to minus 1 inch from your mops length So if your mop is 10 do 13 with the 4 and fold up each end 2 1/2 inches.
Again though I haven't tested it in the Acrylic so I can't guarantee it will fit the same.

NOTE: I like the seed stitch for this seems to pick up better, but you could do other stitches on the 16 middle st. I've done this in a 2x2 rib, Stockinette st on 3 rows then reverse; so it has ridges. Diamond patterns, squares of k4 p4 for 4 rows then p4 k4 for 4 rows repeating etc....As long as the 3 sts at either end are worked in a stockinette st the possibilities are endless for the middle 16.

I have recently gotten a ton of yarn from a family friend and have been working on some extra swiffer pads. I've made several of these years back an thought why not share my pattern. Just need to take a photo and will get it up and posted. It's a quick knit. Maybe a couple hours and you can whip one up yourself.

Hello folks! Seems I've been mia again. Life has been keeping me busy for the past few months I haven't had much computer time.
Let's see, my great nephew is starting to walk which is great and sad at the same time. Great because he's growing and sad because he is.
November was super busy, had a wedding cake to make, christmas orders to get out, Thanksgiving week (takes the week to prepare) rounding out the month with an early birthday bash for mom's 70th. Mom had a good time family and friends came, she was shocked. We kept telling her it was a holiday party, seeing as we didn't have a Halloween party we wanted to celebrate the three holidays at once, we sure had her fooled lol!! It was a 50's diner theme! We had minis of all the good diner foods, menus and poodle skirt cookies for favors. A faux jukebox rockin out oldies music. Everyone had a blast!

Now with the holidays past and a New Year on the way keeping busy again the next couple of months with birthdays and hopefully some new crafted items to add to my shop and ebay.

More Sales Going on!!!

Wow I'm on a role here last post less than a month ago LOL.. That's a new record for me, I hope to be able to keep up like this. I do enjoy sitting for a moment and writing something be it long or short. Today though maybe short.

I decided recently to say the heck with it and pulled out the old trusty sewing machine and get to some new items. Been in the mood for fall decor so I decided to sew up some Halloween/fall items. I have 2 done and 2 more I'm hoping to get done tonight. I have this one listed already on Ebay Witches hat with Pumpkins and mice, Loved how it came out. I love this hat pattern and been wanting to add some pumpkins for a while. I love the mice on it, If this hat could tell a story it might go something like this..

Poor young witch, who's always late, was on her way to the weekly Witches meeting " flying at almost super speed on her broom, trying to make it there on time and not be late yet again, forgot to hold tight to her hat. It flew off her and fluttered down into the woods below, she sped off knowing she couldn't be late. As the hat made it's way to the through the almost bare trees below and almost landing on an old brown screech owl, a gust of wind guided it to its final destination at the end of a hollowed out tree trunk. Where 2 little mice where gathering some pumpkins for a Fall harvest festival.They looked at the hat and thought how great would this be for the festival A real Witches hat. They even though maybe of making it their home after the festival was done. They put the pumpkins on the hat and pulled it along to a clearing where animals all over where getting ready for a Feast.

Ok I'm not a great story teller but you get the idea LOL. I see something like this every time I've made this hat, but each time a new adventure might be going on with the mice and their meeting with the hat. IDK the things that go on in a mind of a crafter/artist.

I'm working on a pumpkin set from My Primitive Saltbox, these are almost complete just a few more touches. Also have another set of Mice, 3 witches these are coming along cute. I'm not sure I will want to part with them.

I'm also trying to de-stash some of my previous craft items. So far things are going well, will have a handful more listed on Ebay all under 5.00 starting bid. I'll post a new post here with more detail.

American Flag Hanging $5.00

This is a great piece for your Americana collection. Here we have a flag wall or door hanging. The flag is hand painted and machine quilted to bring out the stripes.Also it has been grunged with my staining solution. I have added a copy of the Constitution and aged the edges. Along with that I have added an ink well, made from muslin that has been painted and a feather added to it. There is some Spanish moss added to the base of it. Also there are a pair of glasses added to the top. They are made from Copper wire. There is twine to hang this piece anywhere in your home. It measures 12” wide x 14 ½” long. This piece is meant for indoor use only.

He has been made of black stained muslin that has been grunged and sanded with my own mix. He also has been painted with the grunging mix to give him a calico look. His green eyes are vintage buttons, his nose and ears have been painted with a pale pink. His nose and brow have been needle sculpted. I’ve used twine for whiskers and rusty safety pins and bell for his collar. He would look great tucked in a cupboard or shelf he’d be Purrrfect for any décor..
He measures 10” tall x 6” wide

Our First item:

Veggie Ornie Patch $5.00

These Fresh veggies ornies look like they just got picked from the garden. Placed anywhere in your home they would make a great accent. They would look great on a kitchen table or added to a counter. Each veggie was made from quality muslin that was painted to look just like the real thing. The tomato, green pepper, corn and carrots greenery are made from painted wraphia. The shovel is also made from painted grey muslin that was stiffend with a piece of cardboard in between, it also has been grunged to look like it was just in the dirt. The handle is made from a twig. The gloves are made from the same muslin, they have been hand painted with pink and blue flowers and on the palm side they were painted to look like they have little rubber grippers on them. They and the carrots were also grunged with my cinnamon mix.
These ornies will come to you with the green basket too. They will be loose so you can arrange them anyway you’d like. At thanksgiving they would make a great accent in a cornucopia. I will send the pic of how they are arranged via email so you can use that as a guide for you fillers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them.
You will get :
2 corn -11”x2”
2: tomato – 3”
2: green peppers – 3”
5: carrots – 13”x1” (including greenery)
6: string beans – 4”
1: shovel -10”x3”
1: pair of garden gloves -10”x4”
1: green basket -13”x8”

Guess it's been a while again, things have been busy with home stuff. Been busy with summer cleaning and some handwork that needs doing round the house. With all that going on haven't had much time to get to my crafting :( which I do plan on doing again before August is over. I have been knitting and crocheting some. Something I can do while relaxing at night watching some of my summer programs.

My great Nephew is almost 7 mos now and he is getting so big, he's been a joy to have here everyday and seeing him grow each day reminding us of his parents with his actions and features.

My 6year old Nephew who just had a birthday a few months back, Indiana jones was the theme of this years cake, is getting big, becoming a lot like his father everyday. I can't believe summer is almost over and he will be going into the 1st grade :( I remember when he was first born, a teeny peanut.

I've been cleaning and organizing a lot. I've decided to start destashing some of my items on my website. There will be a Dollar Dayz Sale here, Facebook and Ebay alot of items under 5.00. Shipping separate. So stay tuned later tonight and the rest of the week for items to be listed.

Been A While!!!

Been a while since I've written. Seems things here have been busy as usual. The arrival of my Great Nephew was a blessing. I can't believe I'm a Great Aunt, it feels a little weird being I'm only 7 years older than my niece, we grew up more like sisters than Aunt and niece.. :) He's a precious little one and we are all happy he has been put on this earth for us to enjoy.

On the Crafting side, I got into knitting again. For Christmas I was knitting up a storm. Mostly hats, scarves and mittens, but now that the holiday is over I missed knitting. I have made a few things since January. Right now I am working on a pair of socks, they are actually fun to make. Once I got the pattern down, they are going by like a breeze. I have a few more sweaters I am going to get at soon. I find knitting very relaxing and keeps my hands busy at night while watching some tv. Below are just a few knitted and Crocheted items I've finished.

Fall in the air!!!

Well summer is drawing to an end!!!! Vegetables are withering and flowers are turning to seed, the days and nights are getting cooler and it's been getting darker before 8. :( I love summer and miss it every year the season changes. But then again as the days become shorter and the air has a cool crisp to it that can only mean one thing.. HALLOWEEN is near.. And I do love this time of year..
Have a couple Halloween items listed on my Age Before Beauty Marketplace shop Sunshine's Creations, but I am also in the process of making several other Halloween Items.. Which you will just have to wait to see.. Hopefully they will be done by weeks end. I'll post some pics later and where they can be found.. For now it's back to work and hoping all are having a wonderful night.

Been A while!!!

I am a bad blogger I know :( I have been super busy these past couple months. My niece being pregnant has had me excited about making all the new little baby items I can think of :) And my brother, who turned 40 this August, had a big party for him. Was a great day.. I've been busy trying to keep my garden growing Tomatoes are coming up but still no red ones and we are in the ends of August :( Oh well :) Time flies by and summer is drawing to an end as well, This past week has been very dreary and I am looking forward to the sun to shine again and the warmth to come back for a little while....

I've also been busy setting up my new shop on the Age Before Beauty Marketplace and am very excited about this new venture. We have many wonderfully talented artists with their shops set up and many items looking for a good home. So please be sure to stop by and check out the shop.

Even as I type this little note, there is always tons more work to do. If only there were more hours in the day LOL we'd be set.. :) I should get back to my house work and I will try to be back soon with more to post...

Been busy today baking up some Cherry nut Bread.. YUMMO.. Here's the recipe along with some pictures :)

CherryNut Bread
* 3 cups all purpose flour
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 tbsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/4 tsp baking soda
* 1 beaten egg
* 1 2/3 cups milk
* 1/4 cup cooking oil
* 1/2 tsp Almond extract (optional)
* 3/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, or pecans or choice)
* 1 cup or 1 10 ounce jar maraschino cherries; drained, chopped (reserve 1 tsp juice)

Directions:
In a mixing bowl, stir flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda together, set aside.

In another bowl, combine egg, milk, cooking oil and cherry juice. Add to flour mixture and stir until well combined.

Add nuts and gently stir in cherries.

Place into a greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center of bread comes out clean..

Let rest on cooling rack for 10 min then remove from pan and cool completely on cooling rack.

Hi all it's been a while and with spring time here I've been busy as a bee outside cleaning up and prepping for our summer garden. Hopefully full of tomatoes, green beans, summer squash, zucchini, butternut squash, eggplant and lots of herbs. I can't wait...

I hope all the wonderful Moms out there had a special mothers day and your children and loved ones treated you special. This year me and my sister gave mom a couple rose bushes and planted them in her front yard. My brother the lawn man helped out and added some rocks around the bed. It looks nice and can't wait for the first rose to bloom. Hopefully I can remember to take a picture of it soon. I seem to like taking them but always forget to upload them to the computer to share. So forgive me if I forget. :)

Hi all, Sending you well wishes for this Happy Easter week. I made a few changes here on my blog for Spring and love the graphics. Easter will be here before we know it and I can't wait to see my nephew come by and search for his eggs the Easter bunny left him scattered around the yard. :)

This year we're having Easter Brunch, Waffles, Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, blueberry pancakes, scones, juice, coffee and tea. I can't wait.. Then for some games later, a few years back us Adults had an Easter egg hunt, was fun only wished I had a better flashlight, I would have gotten more eggs :)

Well it's that time again Post time :) It's been a bit hasn't it hehe.. Well with the weather changing and more daylight hours it's been a real treat to be able to get outside and enjoy this wonderful weather. Yard work has been top on the list, we have a lot of leaf pick up this year. I may not enjoy the pick up but the sun and warmth of the season makes it worth the while. Tomorrow will be another beautiful day and I am hoping to enjoy the weather again along with a nice Boiled dinner later at Moms to celebrate St. Patty's Day. I'm making dessert not sure if I'm making cupcakes or Pudding... Maybe both ;)....

Sister Kitty....

Well here we go, I will try to keep this simple and as short as I can. :) which may be hard to do.

It all started several years ago I think back in 96 or 97 a cute little Tortoise shell cat decided to make home under my neighbors shed. I think it was spring time, but I remember we would look out the kitchen window and see who we called later Grandma kitty, bringing back visitors to meet her new litter. Found out she had 2 kittys. Momma kitty a tiger striped and an orange Tabby. As the years went by Grandma kitty didn't have anymore kittens weird, but true. She wasn't spayed either but something didn't allow her to have anymore litters. Well my neighbor would feed these kitty's cause they would help him keep the mice out of his shed, he would brew up his own wine from his grapes every year and mice would be a plenty for some of the sweet nectar. I could only image them bringing cheese and having a party LOL..

Momma kitty and Grandma kitty stuck around and took claim to the neighborhood. Which was fine these "feral" cats were sweet. Momma kitty would eventually have a litter of 3 2 males and 1 female, my neices who were young at the time named all of them. There was Panther all black cat who was very friendly and then Quazzi who was a long haired tuxedo and Sister 1 who was a tiger cat. These cats would go off on their own but Momma and Grandma would stay close by. Some time in 2002 Momma had another litter oddly enough this litter was like the last except for their gender. The tiger cat was a boy, and the 2 others were girls. Again my nieces named them, Puff for the tuxedo, Dot for the black one, she had one dot of white on her chest and Eddy for a boy they liked at the time. I live in the city and the area has had some people who like to keep chicken and such. One day Dot came though our yard with a good 6lb chicken. that was almost as big as she was, she must have caught from several houses down. She had to have lugged this thing over and under fences. Now mind you the properties here are not close, we were lucky in this area to have our neighbors close but at a distance at the same time. Once again a year or so goes by and Momma kitty had another cat, this one a Tortie, called Harlequin because of her facial marking.

Now comes the sad part and I know I will be welling up from time to time as I type this.

Sometime between 2002 and 2004 Grandma kitty went missing. And of course Momma had her last litter, but this time she had 3, 2 girls and 1 boy the one girl was Sister kitty the second. I think this was late summer of 2004. Then in 2005 Puff came around the house hurt, we didn't know what to do. My uncle called the dog pound and they came and picked her up. They had to put her down because her injuries were to severe. They thought she may have been hit by a car. A whole other issue for my street. There are many speeders, but as of late that has cooled down.

Because the Animal control came by they noticed the other cats and asked if they were friendly ect. We told them yes. They asked if they were a bother, they could set traps and take them to the pound and as long as they passed the testing they would get adopted out. We thought that was the best thing to do. These cats weren't what you think the definition of feral is. They didn't charge at you or scratch you or bite. Like any strange animal they needed to get to know you before they could trust you.

Now the traps were set and one by one the kitties were taken away, that is all but 2. Harly and Sister kitty the second. They would avoid the traps like the plague :)

Now the story of Momma kitty was very touching. The city had her spayed and shots taken care of. In that spring when all the cats were taken away, Momma was the last to go. Our dog pound is a little over 2 miles from my house, Highway and heavily traveled streets. They had taken Momma and placed her in room with large childrens sand box for a liter box and a window that was open a little with a screen on it. The heavy aluminum style screen not the fabric type now on the newer windows. They closed the door and wanted her to settle in but when they came back she was gone. The screen was busted and there was no sign of her anywhere.

The next day I woke up early and looked out the kitchen window and over in my neighbors yard there she was. I did a double take, rubbed my eyes was I dreaming, nope. I went outside and called, she came running. It was Momma Oh my goodness this cat came all that way without injury. Later in the afternoon we called the pound and the officer came by told us the story. They were touched by it, to find out she came "home". They offered to spay her if we didn't mind she would be released back into the neighborhood. Of course we had to what a journey she had how could we not. While she recovered she stayed with us. As part of the catch and release program the city had the vet clip her ear in a V to let any other Officer or pound know she'd been fixed and had her shots if she was ever caught again.

Now for the other 2 Harly after my Bandit had passed was taken in but 2 years later a respiratory infection took her. Sister kitty kept clear of anyone, but would stay close to what she knew was her home. And in the last couple of years got closer to humans, Us mainly. You could never grab her and pick her up or pet her like you would your own pet. She kept to herself and would come around for visits. She was a good cat and for being a cat wasn't attacking birds or bringing mice to our door, the opposite for that matter for 2 years this mocking bird would come and peck at her. It would perch itself atop of my neighbors flag pole and if Sister came round under our deck or burning bush this bird would dive bomb and attack her. Not once did I ever see her swat it and that always made me mad. Poor Kitty...

But this past December we hadn't seen her and it had been real cold that month. In the beginning of January there was a break in the weather and school vacation for the kid next door. Who decided to cause trouble that day and build a fort on top of his landord's shed. The shed is close to our property and I caught him throwing something into our yard. When going back to access the damage, I stumbled upon sister kitty nestled in one of her sleeping spots protected from the weather. But sadly she was gone, and as I type this now my eyes are filling. It is sad to think this sweet kitty passed alone. I can only hope and pray God let her come to him peacefully.

It's strange how you think your not attached to these creatures, they are outside animals, strays not yours but the neighborhoods, but when they pass or are hurt or like Momma kitty, have a story to tell. You realize these animals in some way became part of your world.

Sitting at the kitchen table recently my brother mentioned to make a Sister kitty doll. What a great way to honor her and the memory of her family. So here she is Sister kitty and mouse.

Soon we will be seeing the sprouts of green coming up from the ground from all the little bulb flowers reaching up for the warmth of the sun. Up from their winter resting place to a new season and a new year. I know I'm a little early but I am waiting patiently for the sun and the earth to align again for us to bask in it's warmth for a couple of season. I am so ready for it. To get out and start my garden again and enjoy the fresh air of spring, to hang laundry on the line. By the way I've tried winter hanging only to find my cloth stiff as a board LOL.. But with spring near I've been inspired to create a couple new items. This first one came when I was reminded of Mrs. Tittlemouse, A character from Beatrix Potter. Growing up every year the Easter Bunny would leave me a few Potter books in my basket. I still have all of them today. This year I pulled those books out and looked them over and was awed at how talented Ms Potter was. I remember always picturing little Peter hopping through Mr McGregors garden losing his shoes and coat, or with Hunca munca and Tom Thumb playing in the little doll house and how tidy Mrs Tittlemouse was. So here I have made my version of that mouse with dust pan and brush.

From this one I made another mouse, a victorian era mouse, with bustle and parasol in hand.

Then Lastly.. I have made a kitty and mouse set. But this one will have to wait for show. There is a story behind her and I would like to share in a new post. Well HAPPY NEW YEAR to you ALL!!!

I do hope everyone is enjoying their first few days of 2010.
It's been very busy here with gearing up for Christmas and then taking down the wonderful decorations, But what a better way to start the new year than with a clean house right. LOL

I don't do the whole New Years Resolutions anymore. I never seem to stick to any of them. So I'm gonna take it one day at a time and deal with life as it comes. :~D

Oh what a week!!!

Oh me oh my were to start, this has been bugging since it started a week ago. I was torn do I fight for my rights, do I say it’s not worth it and go on with my life, do I send up a prayer for this person. It’s taken me a while to collectively put my thoughts together. So they don’t come out of anger and frustration. But this issue was a tad bit hard

To begin, I have been accused of copying from someone. Someone whom I didn’t know who they were till they emailed me a week ago. And had I been given a chance to defend myself against their attacks, they would have known that too. But because of what I found after the email it had me feel that there was no reasoning with this person, they had me judged, juried and had me gallows bound. LOL
It wasn’t until in search of my accuser finding my picture plastered on their blog, time stamped not but minutes after emailing me and same for their Facebook. I was angered and frustrated specially when I’ve never had contact with them, never did business with them, never knew of their work until the email. And to be falsely accused!!! I know where my ideas come from and if I had been inspired by their work or anyones I give credit to that person out of common courteous and not because a law tells me to do so otherwise. Unless I’ve used a pattern and it clearly states it in their disclaimer as many of the Name Brand Pattern makers have marked on their front envelopes( for home use only ect.) But as for this it sickens me to know there are people who say it’s okay to take from me but I want credit and if you don’t give me credit you stole. NO it doesn’t work that way. If you want to protect your work you need to protect it from the whole and not pick and choose, specially in my case; who’s Idea did not come from yours but out of mere coincidence look similar. Now does this person go after everyone she thinks takes from her? No only the few who are underselling what they do, those who don’t give them credit and those with their own similar ideas. Now, in my eyes, there was another way to handle this situation that wouldn’t have led to name calling and degradation of ones work.

This is also a lesson to all who want to do the same as they did. Be sure when you are calling out a COPY CAT, you don’t use any picture that isn’t yours to aid in your claim and be sure of the words you are using as well. For doing so you are only proving that what’s good for the goose isn’t good for the gander. Besides that quote you are clearly breaking the DMCA laws set forth in 1996 signed by Clinton, but also by breaking the terms of service and privacy policies when uploading a photo that isn’t yours with the site you are using. And just because you can right click and save doesn’t mean you can distribute or use any picture without consent of the owner. So in your fight, make sure you know your rights and those rights of those you accuse.

And another thing if there wasn’t variety in this world or People with the same ideas would we have a light bulb? because before Joseph Wilson Swan in 1850 and Thomas Edison in 1878 there were 22 others with an idea to make the first incandescent bulb. It was only commercialized later by these 2 men. The thoughts were already in the heads of others. So for originality, there lies none. They were all trying to come up with the end product. Now to the bulb of today there are many manufactures out there and if you look at 2 different bulbs they are very similar, what makes them different is their shape, color, stamp of ownership ect. Now the bulb isn’t the only product out there or art form that is the same. Unless you were brought up in a box oblivious to the world and came out with wonderful ideas, then you like us all get our inspirations from the world, be it a book, a movie, a memory, a picture, a cartoon character, a childs drawing, ect you get my point. But we’ve all ran with those inspiration to create our ideas. And there are many of us out there who can come up with the same idea, make a product be similar by mere coincidence alone not by copying them. The world is full of great minds and then there are those with Great minds who refuse to see that they are not the only one GOD had given talents or ideas to.

So to end this rant. And to let those, who know who they are, know I am not shameful of what I didn’t do, I will not run and hide or fear the accusations of those who throw them, I will not wither in a corner and cowl I will stand for what I know is truth and Fight for my rights as An American, as a human as an artist/crafter.And in my fight you will know who I am, I will not hide behind my computer, for I am not a coward.

I guess it's about time for me to post again, hehehe. I can't believe it's almost here... THANKSGIVING that is. Time seems to be flying by and next will be Christmas Oh my.. So many gifts and baking to do, but will get it all done hopefully before the guest start arriving on Christmas eve.
This time of year is busy for me. My website needs revamping and still have many a gifts to make, Then Be sure to check out My ebay cause there will be loads of Christmas listing there too.I still can't believe Christmas is almost 4 weeks away AHHHHH....

But I will work on and be the busy elf I must.. I just wanted to take a moment to let yall know I'm still here and counting my blessings everyday. Well October is here and soon will be christmas.. YAHOO.... I love making christmas items..

OK for starters My niece was Married September 19 and it was a lovely wedding. The cake arrived safe and sound thankfully.. The whole day was wonderful No rain in site either.( was an out door ceramony) The reception was fun, loads of dancing and well more dancing LOL.. I was hurting the next couple days hehehe...
Now that that is all over with time to get crackin on Christmas. I am making loads of ornies and dollies. I need to get the pictures done and listed on EBAY.. soon.. Tonight I have a few new ornies inthe works. Soon as they are listed I will post here. Maybe even have a Christmas Give away. Think it's time for one.. So look for it soon. A pattern Giveaway come NOVEMBER.. Should be fun... OK need to get to bed then more work for tomorrow. We celebrate my sister's 41st bday.. Should be a fun day... Have a great one all.

Wow it's been a while since I've posted. September is here and yikes only 17 more days till my neice is to be married. Thankfully I have finished up most of the things I need to do. Now it's the cake which is last minute and should be fun. Sad as it is to say I can't wait till it's over so I can get back to working on some crafts. BOy have I been missing it. I tried to sneak in a few here and there but never was able to finish them.

I will be able to atleast start on Christmas stuff which is what i love to make and I have a few new ideas in the works. Will be making a few old favorites as well.

Yes that's right August is coming upon us fast. There are so many things still to do.. September will be here before I know it and my neice will be married. YAH.. I still have tons to do but am hoping to get most of that out of my way this week. I finally got the centerpieces done last night.. And will be working on the dresses this weekend. I forgot how much work goes into weddings. LOL... It should be a fun day and can't wait for it to come.. Now onto other goings on for August.....

Hey all it's been a while.... I've been working on some new items to be put up on my website and Ebay come August. I thought I was never gonna finish them in time. LOL Thankfully I was able to get them all done yesterday and took the pics today. Here is a sneek peek at them

Now that that's done time to start thinking of my neice's wedding again AHHHH. I keep forgetting it's getting close, September 19 and I still have tons to do. I need to finish up the center peice lifts and table number holders, then its tackle the bridesmaid dresses and putting a bustle on the wedding dress itself. AHHHHHHH I know I'm missing something LOL I forgot how much goes into these things. I'm so last minute Alice too.. LOL I know it'll get done hook or by crook.. Yah spring is here we are seeing some Crocus bloom and now yard work begins. This year I'm trying to get another garden in, bigger than last year.. Tomatoes galore... along with other summer veggies.. hoping to til out a 25x30ft section and of course I won't touch a rotortiller so it's the shovel and pitch fork for me LOL.. It will get done.... This summer will be a busy one too. My neice is getting married so I'm helping out were I can, then with all the work that needs to be done around here I keep thinking I'm never gonna have time to craft LOL I will find it though I can't miss out on my relaxing therapy

Hi all I know it's been a while... It's been real busy here... I'm excited that this coming September my neice will be getting married. I can't wait to make the cake and help out with here as much as I can. I'm so proud of them cause they just brought their new home last September and now are paying for their wedding on their own... Such a big step they are taking and we are all so proud of them....

Just recently one of my eBay groups has started a blog AB4B~Age before Beauty~ Beauties4Bloggin. Sandi our leader has started this for us. I'm helping out here and there it's been fun. Happy Valentine's Day

Well it's been busy here on the homefront. :) Last my 3 yr old nephew and I made a darling little bunny for him to sell on Ebay. Unfortunatly it didn't sell but I think that was a sign, that D.D. (his choice for name) was meant to stay with me. He was all set and planning too what he would get with the money... GUM and Star Wars LOL. We had fun none the less, he enjoyed stuffing the bunny then my sister with some of the stuffing... He wanted to make her a doll too. But anyways he chose the cloth and helped with sewing the face and eyes, then did a little needle felting, all the while I had the Pointy end of the needle :)

Tomorrow is VALENTINE'S DAY and I hope everyone will be sharing it with someone they love...

Hello All!!!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their New Year! Things here have been busy and hectic. First was the taking down of all Christmas which is always sad. We never seem to enjoy it long enough and every year I'm always saying we'll keep it up longer :) oh well. Next year hehehe...

Then some news from my brother, He has diabetes :( . He was diagnosed this past tuesday and we had a scare on Thursday morning. He had passed out while gettin ready for work. He went to the ER and they sent him home and to be on the safe side, put a halter monitor on him to check his heart. We find the results tomorrow about that. Praying it is nothing like the ER thinks it may be. He was showing signs of Diabetes from the Begining of the Summer. But like the rest of us put if off for something else. Like weight loss, well he was working his full time job and his small lawn business. Then in the heating season, he's a night sweater as it is and started sweating more thought it was cause he sleeps right near the heater. Then the past week or so peeing and thirsty alot. So he went to the DR. He's doing good but the hard part is the adjusting to the no sugars or carbs. He's a strong man and I know will do well.

Been busy also with making a few new items and hoping to list them soon..

I am working on a Valentines Doll,that if it sells part of the proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.

Wonderful Christmas Memories

(Dad in my brothers Radio Flyer)

Christmas is almost here and I'm reminded of Memories of Christmas Past.

Every Christmas as a child Dad would always read me Twas the Night Before Christmas from my special Hallmark pop up book I had gotten one Christmas from "Santa". I would always snuggle up in his lap and he'd read away.......

Twas the night before Christmas,
When all through the house.
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that st. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children all nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.
And mama in her kerchief and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang form the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave the luster of midday to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer-
With a little old driver so lively and quick
I knew for a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his courser they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the housetop the courser they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys and St. Nicholas, too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around…
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound!
He was dressed all in fur from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all covered with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back.
And he looked like a peddler just opening his sack.
His eyes how they twinkled, his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of his pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled up the stockings-then turned with a jerk…
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of site…..

Warm Winter Blessings

Hello all tomorrow we're suppose to get up to 10" of snow. I was reminded tonight of the 78 blizzard here in New England.. I was a baby then but was lucky to hear the stories from family and even have a few photos from my Nana. It was bad we lost power for a while and because the freezer was down our food had to go outside in a cooler.. Luckily we had a fireplace and coal furnace and the other 2 floors ran on gas heat so we weren't without warmth.... The milk man was the only one out and about passing out bread and milk to those who needed it. People with skis traveling the roads all while my family tried to shovel their way out of the yard.

Luckily we had a lot of family living here at the time. My Aunt Pat & Uncle Dennis were on the third floor with their 2 little ones. Here's my cousin Debbie in the back yard afterwards it looks like she's on a swing LOL

Then My Nana and Grampa on the 2nd floor with 2 of my Uncles

What a time it must have been for all the kids. But Scary I'm sure for a few adults or back breaking as you could see. LOL

How lovely it will be to bake my Christmas goodies while I watch the snow tomorrow afternoon.

This recipe is wonderful snack for Christmas gifts or to layout at your christmas spread.....

White Chocolate Chex Mix
I put this mix in a jar, dressed up of course....maybe with a little snowman or santa on top.
1 (10 ounce) package mini twist pretzels
5 cups toasted oat cereal
5 cups crispy corn cereal squares
2 cups salted peanuts
1 (14 ounce) package candy-coated milk chocolate pieces
2 (11 ounce) packages white chocolate chips
3 tablespoons vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS: Line 3 baking sheets with waxed paper or parchment. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine mini pretzels, toasted oat cereal, crispy corn cereal squares, salted peanuts, and candy-coated chocolate pieces. Set aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat chips and oil on medium-high for 2 minutes, stirring once. Microwave on high for 10 seconds; stir until smooth. Pour over cereal mixture and mix well. Spread onto prepared baking sheets. Cool; break apart. Store in an airtight container.

I've switched up the candy, you could use 14 oz m&m's plain, 1 cup peanut m&m's and 1 cup honey roasted peanuts.....
Another could be Half m&m's and Half Reeses peices

Don't want the candy try adding dried fruits, craisin apricots ect.... or mix it up what ever your heart desires just make sure the amounts are the same or close......

Hello all just a quick crafting tip.......

I use Crayola fine tip washable marker for tracing out my patterns or Embroidery patterns on to my cloth...

When your done sewing it together, Wash in warm water and dry or like I do, wring the water out then put my item into my staining solution to dye the item...... Works wonders....

What A Week!!!!

This week has been a busy one. I've been fixing my neices bathroom. There was some water leaking and the tiles needed to be ripped up and replaced. I am in the process of that now and hope to be done with it soon so I can get back to crafting.

FALL IS UPON US!!!!!!

It's been chilly here today and am wishing for the summer back. Things have been real busy here. Still trying to finish up a couple projects in the works. And promised myself I wouldn't start any others till I did. :-) Well tonight after I finish up this post I'm gonna have at it. I found my epoxy that went missing :-) but that it's found and my jingle bells are all rusted, thanks to the recipe my good friend Leigh sent, I have no excuse.

One of my Ebay groups just finished up a Bingo game, which I had a lot of fun in. Didn't win Bingo but won a prize for a trivia question.

I have another in the works in my TGAGG group which should be alot of fun and a mystery prize to be donated........ Who's gonna win :-)

Well I'm off for now and will try to get back soon to fill ya in on some more good stuff.. HEHEHE

Here's A Yummy Soup for the Fall Weather

Venus De Milo Soup

1 lb Hamburger (cooked and crumbled)
2 quarts of water
1 large can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
6 stalks celery diced (can omit)
1 pkg Onion soup mix
3 beef bullion cubes (i've used veg or chicken)

Boil above for half hour or until celery is tender. If omitting Celery just bring to a boil.

Add 1pkg 16oz frozen mixed veggies
1 small can mushrooms (sliced)

Cook until tender.

1 cup uncooked Orzo (boiled then drained)
Add to soup and Enjoy.

That's it, it's very yummy just had a bowl tonight.

Hi all, it's been a while but lifes been keeping me busy. My neice and her fiance have moved into their new home this weekend and are busy away getting it painted and cleaned. As busy as they can be without electricity. LOL It'll be turned on this tues. Thankfully. It's a cute little home just a street over from us. They love it and deserve the joy it's giving them.

I finally finished the desk YAY..... I found out some of the history to the desk too when Justin's Dad filled us in. It was Justin's Great Grandmothers, she had it in her living room for ever and it was handed down to Randy (Justin's Dad). He was appreciative that it was back to better days and that made me happy. I think it came out better than I'd hoped. Here's a peek....

I was able to work my way to their tv cabinet. Getting the shelves and paint done on it. It was mostly finished from before I just added a few new touches. They have a flat screen that sits on top and needed a place for their electronics and such. So Here's some of what it looked like then and now:

Now it's just a few finishing touches, after that it's moving it out to their house. YAH!!!!!

And I'll be getting back to my neglected craft items. I have a few new Christmas items in the making and hopefully be able to add them to my site soon. Then after that's finished, my neice Jess, needs a slip cover for her couch & chair made, Thankfully we're in the same household. I can lug my old sewing maching upstairs and get to work. LOL So once again I'll be busy, but hopefully be back here to post some new info.

This past week was hectic. The house needed a good cleaning. We had 3 birthdays this week. My sister Kathy the 11, my brother Sean the 13 and today my nephew in law to be Justin. He and my neices are out carravanting. They went to the Washington County Fair hear in Richmond. They try to go every year.

This weekend I started on Justin's Desk, they'll be moving out soon and wanted to refinish this for him. This way they'll have at least one more peice of furniture. LOL I sanded it this Sat and have it glued were it needed glueing. Tomorrow I'm hoping to stain and poly it. I have another peice of furniture to work on soon too. An tv stand that was an old dresser, I had turned into a tv cabinet for my neices. Well Amber an Justin moving need all the furniture they can get. LOL so I'll be adding some finishing touches to that, shelves and a door. When I get that done I'll post some pics. Here are a couple,of the desk in the process.

Also this weekend I've been trying to get started a web shop along with my mini shop. I'm hoping to get my items transfered over to the new shop. Make it look more organized. It's a process, busy making graphics and other little things. I'll keep ya all posted. Thanks for looking....

What a day 3 8's should play the lotto. LOL Well working on getting a launch prep'd for one of the Ebay groups I'm in for September. Should be fun. It's a new task for me to help get done so fingers crossed I don't mess up. LOL. I'll be posting some more on this later in the month.
Today just like the majority of the week was wet and chilly, I want my summer back. I'm hoping to get some more House repairs done before middle of Sept. Our porch needs work and a few new window for the basement. Well I'm off to get some crafting done and to enjoy the rest of this cool dreary night. LOL

Ok all here's another recipe for ya. Great Summer one made with fresh garden veggies....

2 medium zucchinis
2-3 summer squash (yellow)
1/2lb sliced pepperoni (you can omit this if you don't have or like it)
Large Jar tomota sauce (32oz size) or
22 oz can crushed tomatoes and add a 1/2 tsp of basil or oregano and 1/2 tsp crushed garlic.

Slice the zucchini and Summer squash into 1/4- 1/8" slices. Put in a pot, with the sauce or tomatoes along with the pepperoni and cook on med heat till the zucchini and squash are cooked.
It's a great side dish or even good over penne pasta....

Well hello again!!! I'm a night owl and it's almost 2 in the morning. I just finished up some new soy wax tarts that I made. They smell great. I wasn't sure how they'd come out, I haven't made candles in a while and let alone Soy ones. But it was super easy. I have to give them a couple days to cure but Mom, who loves to burn candles is getting the first test run. I'm hoping to make some more for My Older sis Birthday that is coming up soon.
I can smell the wonderful Apples and Cinnamon scent out here, they are out in my Kitchen and I'm in the next room. If all turns out well I may even put some on my site for sale. Fingers crossed.
Well I'm off, gonna see about making another batch before I hit the hay. LOL

Oh yah before I forget, I was in a group launch with one of my Ebay groups Age Before Beauty and was lucky to win best of country award for my Pumpkin Door greeter........ Thank You ladies for the votes. I had fun!!!!!!!

Well Hello again. This week has been a full one. It's been hotter than ever, very muggy. Thankfully for the pool. In which my nephew, 3, has finally felt comfortable swimming on his own. Of course supporting his tube suit and floaties. Which he used to hate because they scratched him. He has had so many accomplishments this past month, with being potty trained over the past several months and to no avail. Then to this week finally getting it, just as if he's been doing it all his life. LOL He is a stubborn little fella too. He takes after his Dad, my brother, who can't stand people telling him what to do and when to do it. LOL He's got a mini me.
But on to my crafting, sadly I haven't had much time to do much this past week. I am starting to get some new patterns made so I can get a few new items made and hopefully listed on my site or Ebay. When I do I'll list the pics here too.

Well I'm gonna hit the hay and Hopefully have a more productive crafting day tomorrow.

I found this recipe on the web, it taste just like the one from Friday's

Dragon Fire Chicken

Ingredients

Marinade
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup honey
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 jalapeno, seeded & chopped (if you like it hot leave seeds)
2 teaspoons mince garlic
1 tablespoon onion, diced
3/4 teaspoon salt
4-8 boneless chicken breast fillets, trimmed

Pineapple Pico de Gallo
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup canned pineapple, chopped
1/2 cup diced red onion
2 tablespoons minced cilantro
4 teaspoons minced jalapeno (this is about 2 sm peppers, leave in seeds if want it hot)
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/8 teaspoon salt

Kung Pow Sauce
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
4 teaspoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili sauce
1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
1 teaspoon finely minced ginger

1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges

Directions
1. Make marinade by combining all ingredients in a blender on high for 1 minute. Pound chicken breast to about 1/2" with a mallet and combine with marinade in a zip-top bag for 2 to 3 hours. (I did this the night before)
2. Make pineapple pico de gallo by combining all ingredients. Store in a covered container in the fridge until later.
3. Make Kung Pow sauce by combining all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. When the mixture starts to bubble reduce heat to simmer for 15 minutes. Cover sauce until needed.
4. When chicken is done marinating, preheat grill to medium heat. Wipe marinade from chicken and grill 5 to 6 minutes per side or until done. Serve chicken drizzled with Kung Pow sauce and pico de gallo on the side. Drain mandarin oranges and sprinkle of top.
* note * Grilling this outside would work great. I used a frying pan but after the 2nd round of chicken in the pan, it started to burn.

ABOUT ME

Well I finally got motivated to start this. I'm not much of a writer and when I do it may be a long story or just a few notes here and there.
This intro is gonna be short but I'll be back to write some more later......
I've been crafting since I can remember. My mom knits, crochet and quilts mostly. I learned to knit from her. I've been able to pick up on things quick and that came from my dad, who was a jack of all trades. He could do anything. Now it's me who does it all. I love crafting but for a few years there things were slow and I really lost my nack for it. The house needed a lot of repairs and cleaning up. So my desire to craft fell at the wayside. (wayside, wasteside?) Finally things slowed back and got that desire back again. Plus now I've found new things to make. I was just making Country things for a bit, but saw some Primitive items and fell in love.
My dad is the one to get me motivated to sell my creation. He got me and my 2 other Sisters into a craft shop when I was 15, I still have that 1st dollar. I thank him for that and for all that he taught me. He was a great man and I know he's watching down on us, as my sisters and I begin selling again.

My mom whos is 66 still quilts, not so much to knit or crochet. She get's more enjoyment out of sewing. Every one she's sewn has all been by hand. She can't stand the sewing machine, that I now use. The thing is old and has only been repaired a few times. But she still hates the thing, it's funny cause My dad brought it for her cause she wanted it. LOL

My family, well I am the youngest with of 5, I have 3 older sisters and 1 brother. I am lucky to have 2 neices and 1 nephew. So my imediate family may not be huge but we are closer than glue.LOL We see each other all the time, which I love. My mom's mom taught us that if you don't have family you don't have anyone.
Well I think that'll be all for now I gotta get tending to my garden, some plants need repotting. I'll be back again soon with some more tid bits.

Hi all today has been a full day, doing lots of gardening and yard work, even it the weather is muggy it was nice to get out in the fresh air.

With summer in full swing and so many things to do, so many ideas to work on. I wish there were more hours in the day.
